If you can swim and love beach life, then Cherating for you. Cherating, located 47 km north of Kuantan in Pahang, has a lot of nice beaches and lots of small food stalls called warungs where they serve delicious fried seafood with this delicious home-made chilli sauce. There's this warung where is near to the beach with coconut trees surrounding it - it's a real cool place to chill out!
Cherating is also a favourite stop for backpackers. Check out Backpack Asia if you're interested in venturing out a mini backpacking trip.
I went to Cherating with mom and we stayed at The Legends Resort. I heard Club Med Cherating is a cool place for the young and active ones - you might want to go there instead. Best of all, it has Mandara Spa there! Hmmm...I'm very tempted now to do a backpack-cum-spa trip to Cherating. Anyone wanna join? :p
A word of caution though, food can be quite expensive down there especially in town, cos word has it, there's lots of Singaporeans working there for the oil industry.
